If you are planning a vacation in the Dominican Republic you will know there are plenty of options open to you. A normal hotel, an all-inclusive resort or a private vacation rental condo are probably the most common options. All have pros and cons.

Hotels and all-inclusive’s may be ideal if you want to get away from the mundane chores you face at home. No meals to cook, dishes to wash and cleaning to worry about, but you may have to accept cramped accommodation, fixed meal times, queuing for buffet-style meals, limited if any in-room facilities and a regimented routine, including vying for the sun-bed around the pool.

Renting a private vacation condo gives more freedom and space but may leave you facing some of the home-based chores and a feeling of isolation in a country and area where you do not know your way around or, possibly, the local language to ask for help.
